FUJAIRAH ANCHORAGE AREA

Fujairah Anchorage Area (FAA) is globally recognized for its wide range of services. FAA offers up to 174 anchor positions along with an efficient and diverse ‘one stop shop’ facility for calling vessels. It has gained a reputation as one of the top three bunkering hubs in the world.

FAA is known for its safety, security and calm waters close to 12,500 vessels called the Anchorage in 2023 making it one of the biggest maritime service hubs globally. The following marine services are available at FAA:

Area A – For vessels awaiting orders or as directed by the Harbour Master.
Area BN – For vessels requiring Bunkers, Lube Oil or De-sloping and other marine services.
Area BS – For vessels requiring Bunkers, Lube Oil or De-sloping and other marine services.

Area C – For vessels requiring Marine Services, other than receiving bunkers, lube oil or De-sloping.

Area D – For vessels carrying explosives, Liquified Gas Carriers and chemical tankers with safety hazardous cargo on board as listed in chapter 17 of IBC Code, requiring Bunkers, Lube Oil, De-sloping and/or other marine services.
Area G – For Liquefied Gas Carriers intending to conduct ship-to-ship (STS) operation. Steaming through “G” area is restricted and is only allowed when there is no STS operation taking place.
Area N – For Navy Vessels holding valid Diplomatic Clearance.
Area S – For Oil Tankers intending to perform ship-to-ship (STS) operations.
Area T – For Tankers calling SPM Terminals.  Receiving Bunkers, Lube Oil or De-sloping and other marine services permitted.
Area VN – For vessels greater than 300 metre in length requiring Bunkers, Lube Oil or De-sloping and other marine services.
Area VS – For vessels greater than 300 metre in length requiring Bunkers, Lube Oil or De-sloping and other marine services.
Area W – For inbound vessels awaiting berth, other than those calling SPM Terminals.

A fleet of over 107 utility boats, owned and operated by shipping agencies and diving companies, serve vessels at FAA out of the Service Harbour. The Anchorage is professionally managed by the Marine Department of Port of Fujairah and is regularly patrolled by the Coast Guard and Port of Fujairah boats. Fujairah territorial waters extend up to 12 nautical miles from the shoreline.
