The Fujairah Port Authority is continually working on new projects to improve its services and facilities so as to better serve the marine, shipping and oil industries. Current projects include the following:
Upgrading of FOTT operations
The Oil Terminal is in the process of improving its operational efficiency, with continuous upgrades being achieved annually.
Integration between ADNOC oil terminals and the Port
ADNOC’s current crude oil storage terminal (MOT) and proposed new underground storage is planned for connection to the Port’s infrastructure and will be linked to the oil berths at FOTT.
Upgrading of existing berths
In line with the concession agreement between the Port of Fujairah and Fujairah Terminals, the facilities for operations at the concession area are being upgraded by the latter as the company has been granted the rights to provide services such as
stevedoring, shore handling and other services within the vicinity. The upgrade includes the construction of a new 16.5 m- LAT x 1,000 m-long quay wall in front of the existing wall of Berths 1 to 4, as well as a small craft quay, repaving and other works for the operation.
Dibba Bulk Handling Terminal (2022)
The deep-water area at Dibba Port is being developed due to its proximity to limestone mines within the vicinity. This development will ease and promote the export of limestone, as the facility is just 50 km away from the quarries.
The Dibba Bulk Handling Terminal includes the following infrastructure:
- Truck haulage road and stockyard outside the urban area in Dibba.
- Aggregates-handling systems at the stockyard, conveyor systems from the stockyard to Dibba Port (most parts will be elevated, while some systems in the urban areas will be in a covered culvert), and ship loaders at the Dibba Port.
- Development of the berth structures at Dibba Port, breakwaters, reclamation, protection bunds and similar infrastructure.
- A dredged navigation channel, harbour basin and reclamation area at Dibba Port.
The Fujairah Port Authority is continually working on new projects to improve its services and facilities so as to better serve the marine, shipping and oil industries. Current projects include the following:
Shallow Water Berth
Subject to market demand, a shallow-water berth for the handling of chemicals, bitumen and similar products is planned at the northern cluster.
Service Harbour Phase III Ship Yard
The construction of a ship yard at an identified location within the Service Harbour area is included in future plans.
Integration of Etihad Rail with Port of Fujairah
Etihad Rail’s 1,200 km rail track will have an extensive national network with freight terminals, distribution centres and depots located close to major transport hubs, warehouses and storage facilities across the UAE. Connection to the Port of Fujairah, which will enable the handling of containers, bulk cargo and other commodities, is planned for 2023.
