Fujairah Port supports the annual charity event, Zero Nine Exhibition, which, aside from being the fashion event of the year on the East Coast, also plays a vital role in supporting and drawing attention to charitable causes in the region. The revenue earned from this exhibition is put towards the support of a different charity every year.
In complete alignment with the country’s vision for economic growth, and the empowerment of UAE nationals to move steadily towards leadership positions in critical industries, Fujairah Port Authority launched a unique Scholarship Programme for Emiratis. This programme is also in line with Fujairah Government’s future vision.
The Scholarship Programme aims to equip young UAE nationals to acquire the scientific background needed to operate, support and manage the vital positions previously held by non-nationals. This programme will be extended beyond academic support once the foundation has been obtained to ensure that future assignments also contribute to the economic goals of the Emirate.
The Scholarship Programme is in line with the Emiratization strategy of the government of the United Arab Emirates. The strategy involves the diversification of work areas for locals, in which it aims to enhance the familial and social stability of citizens, to enable them to support the policies of the government, and to empower them in following government procedures that will stabilize its function and strengthen UAE’s governance in all areas and at the local, regional and national levels.
The maritime ports play a vital role in securing the entry and exit of locals and foreigners from the country. The Port of Fujairah is an open port along the coastline of the Gulf of Oman, which provides important navigational lines associated with the region. It is, thus, one of the most dangerous outlets and requires high security readiness and understanding to protect the State from any potential risks associated with the Port’s main operations and activities. The Scholarship Programme aims to fortify the security at the Port, which is becoming one of the world’s busiest seaports, under the governance of the Emirate of Fujairah. Through this, our scholars will be qualified to manage the security operations of the Port and will reduce the need for foreign staff.
Maritime ports are links to the outside world and serve as an outlet for foreign trades. They are important sources of national income and foreign currencies, providing necessary financing for development programmes and the promotion of national economic investment. The Port of Fujairah plays an essential role in the development of the economic, commercial and industrial centres of the UAE. Therefore, the Scholarship Programme is an economic strategy to support the country’s sovereignty and economic independence.
